EDDY CURRENT TESTING PRINCIPLE:
Eddy current testing is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The excitation signal is added to the probe coil. When the probe approaches the metal surface, the alternating magnetic field around the coil generate induced current on the metal surface. For the plate metal, the flow of induction current is in the circle of concentric coils, like vortices, called eddy current. The size, phase and flow form of the eddy are influenced by the electrical conductivity of the specimen. The eddy current will also produce a magnetic field, which in turn makes the impedance of the detection coil change. As a result, defects or measurements appear on the surface or near the surface of a conductor. When the metal material changes, it will affect the strength and the score of the eddy current. The changes in the eddy current cause the change of the voltage and impedance of the coil. According to this change, you can know the defects and the change of metal materials inside a conductor indirectly.

Therefore, eddy current testing can be successfully used to select alloy and test material, the quality of heat treatment and mechanical properties, etc. ③Thickness measurement, eddy current can be used to test the diameter and thickness.
